On a psychological level and a source of information regarding the event at Columbine, I love your blog. But honestly, some of the content here is repulsing me. Asking which one is most attractive (what qualities make you a good match too?!) and asking to own matching accessories? It's not even that I'm mad, I'm just utterl y heartbroken. I can't stop thinking about all the people who died that day. And there's people asking about owning the same trenchcoat they once had. I could almost cry
Thank you. I understand your concern and I personally am interested in the psychology behind this case, as well as you are. I do answer all questions, even the ones I don’t find relevant to the case out of an informational, psychological, criminological, sociological etc point of view; so these asks get to my blog even if they’re not really “informative”. It can be seen as upsetting, but what people find interesting sets us apart and we can only accept it, as long as this interest doesn’t lead to something bad. I hope you still like the blog and that you can look past the asks that make you upset, sweetheart. x
Although I can't exactly remember where, I read somewhere that officials told several families that their loved one was the first to die and therefore didn't suffer as much as the other kids because they didn't know what was happening; that it was only later that these families realized they had all been told the same thing . Is this actually true? I love your blog, by the way. It's so incredibly informative!
Thank you love! x
I don’t believe that, no, as the officials didn’t even tell most of the families about the children’s deaths at all. They found out by reading it in the newspaper and/or in most cases by returning home that day without their loved ones.
This isn't a specific question about Columbine/Eric and Dylan, but more of a general question (I hope that's okay). Do you think that there are just some people who are simply born evil? Like it wouldn't matter if they had a happy childhood and all the love and support they could ever need, that they would still end up kill ers? Like they're destined to be killers from the start and nothing could change that?
I don’t believe in evilness, no. Some people have a higher risk, naturally, of becoming killers in their lives (even if their social circumstances are good), as it’s not only our environment that affects us as people but also our mental states and biological circumstances. I don’t believe that anybody is born into something they’re destined for but rather that they turn into it because of different reasons. Some people have a good family life, a good social life and pretty good living conditions generally; but are extremely mentally unstable and therefore commit these crimes. Killers aren’t mentally stable. You don’t kill if there’s nothing in your body or in your environment that create the urges to do so. Something creates the urges to kill and it can be prevented, but in some cases it’s almost impossible to know how as most killers don’t go around talking about them wanting to kill somebody before it happens. It’s often a process or something building up inside of them before the point of the killing comes, and this process can be hidden form others so well that it couldn’t be prevented by anything other than coincidences.
Why do u think Dylan shot himself a few seconds after eric? Does it matter? I feel like maybe he wasn't sure if eric was going to follow thru with suicide, since he's always been deceptive and just wanted to kill. Dylan was genuinely suicidal. I think eric ended his life becuz he had to, after all that damage
I actually don’t know. It could have been something he thought about, a quit moment of regret or as you said, a way to see if Eric would have the guts of the will to do it. Eric wanted to kill himself though, or else he wouldn’t have done it. Sure, it was a way to not have to live with the consequences, but somebody who truly is a psychopathic killer wouldn’t want to kill themselves at all. Eric expressed the will to kill himself and was depressed as well, only Dylan talked more about suicide than Eric did.
Probably an unusual question, but I'm curious, do you know if it was both Eric and Dylan who got ketchup-covered tampons thrown at them, or was it just Dylan? Lovely blog by the way, m'dear. :)
